The death penalty has always been a very major issue. People debate whether the death sentence should be given or not. In the past many mistakes have been made. Innocent people have been killed, because of someone else’s wrongdoings. However it is not so easy to consider death penalty as an
easy way to punish the guilty. If the death penalty is to condemn it does
not mean that the guilty party should be released or allowed some sympathy.
It would defeat the purpose, as it would be using violence to counter
violence, which might not makes that much sense. Death penalty also takes up more money than life imprisonment. By killing a criminal the government is not giving them the chance to realize their own mistakes and maybe become better people one day.
First, innocent people have been killed, because of someone else’s bad choices. To give someone the death penalty judges have to be 100% sure that they have accused the right person before they do something really stupid. As it is hard to give someone the death penalty it is not impossible. A decent country does not act like as if it is the 18th century, the government does not punish eye for an eye. If you have the same manners as a killer, but say that you have different morals the image does not really change and it still does not look good for you whatsoever.
Second, it is an illusion that the introduction of the death penalty does not take more money from society than life imprisoning. The procedures are longer they require more studies, more experts, additional hearings, etc. This involves more judges, more lawyers, registrars and other people. Those procedures can easily last 10 to 20 years. Besides it is better for the image of a country and therefore for the economic situation, not to mention that it is not human. Studies show that some people are scared to visit as tourists countries where the death penalty is an option, especially if the death penalty is introduced with other forms of corporal...
