Media Attraction
The movie I decided to research was, “The Last Song” starring Miley Cyrus, Greg Kinnear, and Liam Hemsworth. This movie is to premier March 31, 2010. This movie is based off of the book, “The Last Song”, by Nicholas Sparks. My first approach on learning more about this movie was going to Google. It was hard to tell what websites were real or just made up by some fans. Finally finding the actual Movie website by Touchstone Pictures. “The Last Song” http://touchstone.movies.go.com/thelastsong/ I was surprised to see that there wasn’t much on their website to interact with the reader. A reader needs something big to catch their attention, without an attention getter the reader has no desire to further their research. The website did a good job presenting the movie by having the background a picture of the main characters in a scene from the movie. Looking at other movie websites you could see the difference in how the creator of the websites created their own. Most of them had games, trivia, background stories, or creative ways to publicize their movie. The website created by Touchstone   Pictures was simple and straight to the point. It had 3 links, the movie trailer which briefly showed parts of the movie to get the audiences attention, the story behind the movie which was based off of a true story by Nicholas Sparks, and a Gallery of pictures from different scenes in the movie. Even though it got the main points across to the reader it lacked a lot of information. The gallery that they had only had two pictures from the movie, it did not really doing a good job selling their movie. The Story link briefly described what the book was about and how the movie was going to be. It didn’t do a good job grasping the reader’s attention. There was no attention grabber that leaves you hanging and wanting to know more about the movie. The website was created for us readers who are interested in the movie. Who ever is in charge of the publicity for this movie...
