A RESEARCH PAPER ON THE IMPACT OF ICT ON POVERTY ERADICATION

Abstract
This study deals with the impact of ICT on Poverty eradication in Kenya. Its objectives assesses potential of ICT in employment creation and poverty alleviation and assessing the existing ICT such as ICT industries, ICT enabled services and sectors utilizing ICT’s application and employment.
The uses of ICT are associated with new patterns of job creation and job losses in many organizations in Kenya and the whole world at large.   The new jobs created are like call centers, Webpage designers, data entry, and automation of running of organization.
The creation of entirely new industries such as the software, computer, micro-electronic, the GSM industries etc has brought about new employment opportunities, which employ a substantial number of people.
The job losses are like when systems are automated the manual work is replaced hence job loss to those who are used to work manually, due to fast communication brought about by ICT there is no use of messengers in many places of work.
The solutions to this problems is by training workers who don’t know how to use ICT equipments to improve there efficiency I work by improving productivity, the new jobs created should be introduced in schools and higher learning institutions to help the youth get employment.
The study shows that access to reliable and affordable telecommunications and electrical power infrastructure is an important precondition for the use of ICT to generate employment opportunities.
