Helping the Helpless...

Every individual has to face different kinds of problems as his life progresses from infancy to the old age. The problems that every individual face during the old age can have many factors in common that includes the fall in income to fall in health, mental and physical conditions.
But the biggest problem that they face is the negligence from the younger generation, to be accurate, their own children. Most of them are said to be suffering from abuses at their own home, but a very few out of them come to light. There are also a huge number of cases where we know that these old and helpless have been asked to leave their homes to streets.
The above collage depicts faces of those helpless in their old age, and the issue that they face in common is the negligence from their children. Although the intensity of negligence is varying from one person to another, its sure that they are not getting what they actually deserves in this age. If someone in the picture has been abandoned by her son, someone else is not allowed to be at home when his children go to the office! Few of them are forced to work despite their worse health conditions so that they could earn for their daily bread.
Actually many are unaware about the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act by which the children who abandon their parents can be punished for three months of imprisonment and fine. But as the majority of the affected continue to suffer due to fear or love towards their children, literally!
It is estimated that India has 81 million older people and several studies have indicated that 40% of older people are facing the problems. In this globalized world, where time is getting scarce, children are feeling more and more intolerable with the problems that their parents have especially health problems.
