My center observation was done at The Early Learning Center. I saw a mixture of inappropriate and appropriate practices. The inappropriate practices that I saw were during the teacher to child ratio. There were probably twenty to thirty children and there was only one helper in the room handing out food and trying to watch them, the wrest was in the break room having lunch. Also I could tell that the classroom was more teacher directed then child directed. The appropriate practices I saw was all the learning centers that they had and how they had totes to change out material. They had a lot of print all through out the room. They had more than enough time at each center.
The Head Start observation was done at the Benjamin Franklin School. I saw more inappropriate practices done here. There was more times than I can count on my hands and toes that one of the teacher was texting on her phone. She was not paying attention to the children at all. All of the learning center materials was old and outdated you could tell that the children were bored with it all. The teacher cut out the art project herself, she even glued the projected for them instead of letting them do the project. I was highly disappointed in this project.
My Pre-k observation was done at the Grade School. Here I saw more inappropriate practices. They made the kids all sit down and write there names until they got it right and then after they got it done they was aloud to join in learning centers. They was expecting all the kids to be at the same level to write their own name but clearly the wasn’t the case because their was three, four, and five year olds in the pre-k. The materials were a bit out dated. I was a little disappointed in the pre-k at Bluford.
The K-3 classroom observation was done at Wayne City Grade School in the third grade classroom. I had her in the sixth and seventh grade. My sixth grade year was her first year teaching at Wayne City. I can see that she has improved as a...
