Studying at an International University

This essay covers my reflection on past experiences of learning and working with people from different countries and future expectations of studying in an international university also indicates benefits and challenges of it.

Last year, I studied graduate diploma at INTO University of Exeter. This was a nice experience to study and work with people from different countries, especially when preparing group assignments or presentation. I really enjoyed meeting friends and lecturers who have different cultural background because I found out different countries’ culture by immersing myself in it rather than through program on TV or articles on magazine. However, different cultural and linguistic backgrounds might cause misunderstanding or conflict. Therefore, in this year, I expect to enhance my communication skill and multicultural understanding. Both of the skills can not only enable myself to work more efficiently in multinational companies in future but also to avoid conflict caused by cultural difference. My second expectation is to expand my international network. I hope I can make many friends who come from different countries and culture at international university.

Through team work of group assignment or joining society, international university provides many opportunities to increase experience of working in multinational environment. Moreover, I can benefit from a wider spectrum of perspective and academic expertise.
