This country is unification of seven self-governing sheik ruled emirates: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al-Qaiwain. UAE has always been a favorite tourist destination in the Middle East for both business and leisure travelers. In recent times tourism in UAE has got a boost due to development and proliferation of different modes of communication. For example the proliferation of airlines in recent times has made the UAE tours easier and convenient. Due to traditional Arab hospitality, crime free environment and highly developed infrastructure UAE has become a favorite for businessman who wants to organize international conferences. Leisure travelers choose UAE as a favorite tourist destination because they are flooded with lots of options for recreational activities that can range from power boat races to sand skiing. Of late UAE has also become a much sought after venue for sports events. The Dubai Classic Golf tournament, polo and cricket competitions are regularly held in the country and it has also made UAE tourism flourish.
Tourism has been found to be beneficial as well as harmful for local economies. Experiences of destination vary in this regard. However, experience has shown that if tourism is not developed and managed properly negative impacts will takeover and kill the destination in the long run. The Travel and Tourism industry is a highly sensitive industry. So, if the economy of that area is totally depends on tourism it will be very harmful not only for that area but country also.
The Economic impact of Tourism
Some positive impacts are:
• Tourists contribute to sales, profits, tax revenues, and income in an area.
• Creates more jobs
• More locals will be employed = more money
• Contributes to income and standard living
• Improves local economy
• Increases employment opportunities
• Increases tax revenues
• Improves transport infrastructure
