Claude Monet

My name is Claude Monet. I was born November 14, 1840 in Paris, France. My parent’s names are Claude-Adolphe and Louise-Justine Monet. In 1845 we moved to Le Havre. I went to school at Le Havre’s secondary school. In 1857 my mom died.
In 1858 I met Eugene Boudin. He encouraged me to paint landscapes outside. I was destined to be a painter. In 1859 I moved back to Paris and entered Swiss Academy. I met many people there such as Camille Pissarro and Edouard Monet. In 1863 I discovered many paintings of forests and the outdoors, which I enjoyed. In 1864 I met my first art lover, Gaudibert.
My paintings were submitted for the first time to the official saloon in1865. My lady friend, Camille Doncieux, and another friend of mine posed for a picture I painted called, The picnic. My son, Jean Monet, was born in 1867 even though I was not there. I had an unsuccessful try at suicide in 1868. Shortly after that I painted many portraits in Fecamp and Etretat.   I settled in the town of Saint-Michel in 1869, I also painted some with Renoir in Saint-Michel. In 1870, I married Camille and we moved to Argenteuil.   Shortly after we moved there my dad died.
In 1874 Some artists and I fromed a society of artists. We gave a public exhibition of our work at the studio of Paris photographer. I exhibited a painting impression; Sunrise.   My painting gave the group its name, The Impressionist.   Even though there was financial failure at the first exhibition, The Impressionist continued to exhibit together till 1886.
In 1878 my second son was born, Michel Monet.   My wife died in 1879.   In 1892 I married Alice Hoschede.   In 1907 I started having problems with my eyesight.   Alice died in 1911, and Jean died in 1914.   From 1916 to 1926 I worked on many large paintings.   These paintings were put in a architectural place designed for them in Paris.   In 1923 I had an operation for my eyesight after I nearly went blind.   Shortly after that I suffered from lung cancer and I...
