Unit 1 P1, P2, P3 INVESTIGATING TRAVEL AND TOURISM SECTOR

Travel and Tourism is one of the biggest sectors in the UK giving job opportunities to many people, behind the chemical industry and financial services. It is one of the fastest growing sectors generating £115 bn every year for the UK economy and employ 2.6 million people.

Travel and Tourism have many definitions depend from the people view but we can sum up as the activities of people travelling to and staying in places away from their place where they live and work, using services and industries which deliver travel experience, transportation, accommodation, eating and drinking and other hospitality services for individuals or groups.

Therefore the people we use to call a “tourists” , are those who are: ● ● ● ● ● away from they place of live for up to one year taking part in activities that would normally be associated with leisure and tourism on a visit that is temporary and short term not neccessarily away home overnight, it could be a one day trip away home but not neccessarily on holiday, as they could be away on business.

Domestic tourism.

Domestic tourism involves people visiting destinations within their own country borders ( day trips, short breaks , holidays).

It is recognised as one of the three major categories of tourism.Domestic tourism is often regarded as being less significant to national economies than inbound tourism, for it does not generate foreign currency.Instead, it redistributes domestic currency spatially within the boundaries of a country. From a regional perspective its net benefits can be the same as inbound tourism as it provides an important source of new money flowing into a region. The additional expenditure by domestic tourists has the same type of impact as inbound tourism on the country as a whole, generating business...
