World Hunger
World hunger might be the worst problem in the world today. Lets start off by defining   “World Hunger”, according to the Oxford English Dictionary (2013) “1.world hunger is a feeling of discomfort or weakness caused by lack of food, coupled with the desire to eat.” World hunger is a problem that is absolutely horrible. Poverty is the main cause of hunger, and hunger is a cause of poverty. When people go malnourished, they lose brain function and the mental materials to be a productive person in a society or to earn money. There are approximately 13.1 percent of people in our world that go hungry today, that’s an equivalent of 925 million people who go hungry and undernourished everyday and they don’t receive the daily calories that someone should receive. Nearly 98 percent of worldwide hunger exists in underdeveloped countries: Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. Hunger is often passed from mother to child; each year, 17 million children are born underweight because their mothers go without eating or malnourished. There are a lot of sad aspects that world hunger brings out: children and adults dying each day of hunger, people fighting and stealing for food, and even searching for food in large garbage disposals. There are several groups and organizations that help and go overseas to different countries to help the ones in need. There isn’t very much that a group or organization can do for a country, but when everyone comes together it makes a massive difference.
Feeding America is the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity. Feeding America’s mission is to feed America’s hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger. In just this year, year 2013 Feeding America has given over 22,096,194 meals.
