How to Write a Literary Essay

Structure

Well lets get started. An essay consists usually of five paragraphs. An introduction, 3 body statements and a conclusion. The introduction states what the body will be talking about, the subjects and the basic knowledge of the essay, also called the thesis. The body explains the opinion of the writer. Each paragraph of the body talks about a specific topic and backs up the writers opinion with at least 3 facts. The conclusion sums up the essay and is almost like a repeat of the introduction.

MLA Format

The essay should be in MLA format. There should be a header, which consists of your name first, then the teachers name, the course code then the due date. All in that order. There should be a title and a space between every line.

Quotations

When writing an essay try to use a lot of quotations. The more quotes you have the better your essay tends to be. Quotes help get the point you are trying to emphasise through the readers mind. When inserting a quote into your essay, you must start a new line and indent, like this.
