They Called Me the Modern Day Jesus
I feel cold. Why do I feel so cold? Wait, am I still at school? No. This place smells like sterile old people. I can’t be at a nursing home so… I must be in a hospital.
“Doctor Howard! She’s waking up now!”
“No don’t let her wake up! Put her back to sleep!”
Huh? What is going on here? Who are those voices I heard? They’re not any of my teachers from school, are they? Wait, what is going on?! Shouldn’t I be in Spanish right now? No. I’m dizzy, I can’t sleep. I have to find out where I am.
5 hours later into the night
“Sir, can we wake her up now?”
“No just let her rest for her time being. Now that we have finished examining her and know that there is nothing more that we can do… the next step is to just tell her that she’s dying. So let’s give her the time to rest“.   Doctor Howard walked over to the young girl and placed his hand upon her forehead.
Nurse Linda had taken a step or two backwards bumping into a metal cart behind her.   The sound jolted the young girl in her sleep.
“I’ve never seen anything like this. H1N2. How could this happen? ...Doctor is there a chance that it might be contagious?”
Doctor Howard put his hand back into his pockets and sighed what seemed to be the saddest sigh of his life.
“Sorry Linda, but yes. So as I said we need to tell this young girl that she’ll most likely die in isolation or if she agrees we will inject her and she will die along with the disease, this Friday.”
Linda backed up against the cart again, making a glass fall off. The shatter made Doctor Howard jump inside.
“But...But are you sure there isn’t any cure for this?”
Doctor Howard fixed his coat and slowly shook his head in disappointment.
“No. She’s only 16, and you’re expecting her to make a huge decision like this. On top of that it’s Tuesday so that means she has less than three days to live…”
“I want my mom…”
Linda couldn’t bear seeing the young girl wake up and ran out of the room as young Elley...
