Best Job/Worst Job

Seeing the world, meeting new people, and sailing the seas and ocean was the best. The Navy was the best job I had.   There is nothing like it! I got to go to many different places and see many different faces. Who would have not wanted to be in my shoes? To experience the   different cultures was amazing. The food well, hey sometimes McDonald’s was your best friend especially when you didn’t know how to speak the language of that particular country you were in. Going sightseeing was always fun and exciting. Me personally I liked going to the clubs to dance and maybe have a drink or two. The music may have sounded a bit different but please believe it had everyone grooving. Of course there were rules and regulations we had to follow while over in another country so that lead to people being rebellious and getting into trouble.
The 1970’s Funk Band, Rose Royce said it best with their hit song “Carwash.” Needless to say that was the worst job I had.   A kid having a candy store or a lemonade stand could have made more money in about a day than what I made in a week! Sometimes the tips were good then other times you might get those thanks for a nice job of washing and waxing my car but I’m still not tipping even if you did make my car look like new money type of customers. Other times I would be in there damn near 12 hours and still would not have a car to wash so therefore I would get no tips and have to go home empty handed but still have an ounce of pride left. Don’t get me wrong working there was an adventure but the pay was not even minimium wage. If   I knew then what I know now I would have never taken that job on and wasted a whole summer when I was seventeen but like they say you live and you learn and that I did!
