Paper 1
Essay Question: China is the oldest continuous civilization on earth. Obtaining a solid       understanding of China’s culture of the past is necessary in order to successfully embrace all that the culture has to offer to the world.
Chinese Cuisine have a strong impact on the world
From ancient to modern times, Chinese culture have a strong impact on the world. Such as the Silk Road, connecting Chang’an in the east with Rome in the west, passed through countries in Middle east, and its influence carried over into Japan and Korea. Or Zheng He’s Voyages, he commanded the Chinese treasure Fleet to make seven far-ranging voyages to the west, which lasted 28 years and he sold many crafts and skills of China.
Chinese culture is broad and profound, today I choose one aspect of Chinese culture to explain the influences of Chinese culture, that is Chinese Cuisine. Since the ancient times, there is a saying : Food is what matters to the people! Chinese food culture has several thousand years of tradition, and it is famous to the world. Now, I have a question, Chinese cooking ingredients, cooking techniques, traditional food, food custom and so on, how spread these all over the world?
The truth is that in the early Qin and Han Dynasties, Chinese began to spread the Chinese Cuisine outside. In the western Han Dynasty, Zhang Qian went to the western regions, he brought back flax, carrot, pomegranate and other products to China, and also take some peach, plum, ginger, tea and other product to the western regions.
In addition, Chinese Cuisine also have great influence on Korea. According to “Han Shu” recorded: In Qin Dynasty, so many Chinese residents came to North Korea, so they will naturally take Chinese Cuisine to the Korea. Korea people used to eat with chopsticks, and the cooking materials, food collocation which Korea people use, are obviously have China characteristics.
Chinese food culture have more influence...
