In Ella Taylor’s “TV Families” the alliance refers to the broadcasters and the advertising sponsors. Advertising agencies would fund broadcasting companies to promote their products during commercials and/or during the programming.

TV shows relate to many different classes to boost the ratings of the shows and of their broadcasting company as well as boost the profits of the advertisers that are funding the TV. Though many programmings are not reality it does play a role in the fundamental interests of that group or class. Advertisers who have or want to sell their products to that particular interest group who air their ads during the show- commercials.

Women seem to be the prime target for both the broadcasting company and the advertising agencies during the afternoon hours. They feel that since the women are home and do most of the shopping for the household they program soap operas and talk shows that allow them to escape their realities. Whereas, the commercials that run bring them back from their utopia and try to convince them on buying products that they may need for their homes or for their families.

Children are the easiest targets for advertisers. Since many parents in today’s society put their children in front of the TV screen it is easy for them to put on commercials, during the cartoons, to promote toys, games, and fast food restaurants.

Late night television is also an advertisers dream because this is the time for adults. While their children are asleep they can enjoy television programming that are in their best interests.   Broadcaster’s   promote TV series that relate to today’s society such as family dilemmas, work relations, and trauma. They give them a sense that there is always a solution.

Many Television and movie stars will actually promote an advertiser’s product during the   show or movie. They promote the products to their viewers and convince them on buying the products.
