As a freshman, many exciting things have happened since I have been at Delta State University. I received a parking ticket, I met new friends, learned a lot about myself, and I have added on everyday life knowledge. The most exciting thing that has happened to me since I been at Delta State University, was actually setting aside my pride and enrolling back into school.
I was working two jobs and I was not attending school. My family always talked to me about going back to school because there are simply no goods jobs out here, and the only way you are going to get one is if you attend school and get a degree. I began to think to myself and did a research based on people with college degrees with jobs and people without college degrees with jobs. The research was quite interesting because everything my family talked with me about was true. I already knew what my family was saying was true but it is so hard to let go of money. All the research and talk led up to a lot stressful thinking. Every day and night, all I was thinking about was, should I or should I not. I had to set aside everything extra such as: partying, shopping all the time, going to the movies, talking on the phone, and most of all, just being myself. After all the stressful thinking, I finally made up my mind to go ahead and go back to school. It took some hard decision making, but I think it was worth it.
The hardest thing I had to do in order to get back in school was quit my jobs. I was working at Okun’s Shoe Store and Wal-Mart. I had already decided to quit Wal-Mart way before going back to school was thought of but I had a lot of issue with Okun’s because things could have been worked out for me to be still working there. It is hard because I was so use to always having Benjamin Franklins in my pockets, now I have George Washingtons. I am a big shopper and now I do not have the money like I use to, to buy what I want.
